FRAMED

Artwork, Intellectual Property & Seller Rules

What can be listed on FRAMED and what sellers are responsible for.

Effective 27 August 2026 · Version 2026-09-04

1. The basic rule

Only list work that you have the legal right to sell.

FRAMED is built for genuine artwork and legitimate sellers. Listings must not deceive buyers about who created the work, whether it is original or reproduced, what rights or edition they are buying, or where the work comes from.

2. Copyright and ownership

You must own or control the rights needed to use the images, descriptions and other content in your listing.

If you are an artist selling your own work, you must not copy another artist's protected work in a way that infringes their rights. If you are a gallery, studio, estate, representative or reseller, you must have authority to sell the work and use the artist's name and listing materials.

3. Trade marks, publicity and third-party rights

You must not falsely suggest that a work is authorised, sponsored, endorsed or produced by another artist, brand, estate, gallery, sports organisation, celebrity or other rights holder.

Artwork incorporating protected logos, characters, photographs, names, likenesses or other third-party material may require permission. It is the seller's responsibility to determine whether the listing and sale are lawful in the countries where it is offered.

4. Counterfeits and unauthorised reproductions

Counterfeit work, fake signatures, forged certificates, fabricated provenance and unauthorised reproductions are prohibited.

You must not sell a reproduction, print, poster or edition in a way that falsely represents it as an original artwork or misstates its edition, production method, signature or authenticity.

5. Misleading listings and production partners

Do not describe an open edition as a limited edition. Do not invent edition numbers, materials, signatures, certificates, provenance or scarcity.

If a print or poster is produced by a third-party printer or production partner, the listing must not mislead the buyer about who created the artwork or how the physical item was produced.

6. Artificial intelligence and digital production

You must not present AI-generated or heavily machine-generated work as handmade, hand-painted or personally created where that would materially mislead a buyer.

FRAMED may require disclosure of AI-assisted or digital production methods and may restrict categories of work that do not fit the marketplace or create a material rights, authenticity or consumer-protection risk.

7. Prohibited content and listings

FRAMED does not allow illegal goods or content; stolen artwork or property; counterfeit goods or forged documents; listings that infringe copyright, trade marks or other intellectual property rights; sexual content involving minors or exploitative sexual content; content that directly threatens unlawful violence; or content that promotes terrorist or violent extremist organisations.

FRAMED also prohibits listings created mainly to move payments or transactions away from FRAMED or to disguise another prohibited transaction.

8. Hate, harassment and context

FRAMED may remove work or seller content that unlawfully targets people based on protected characteristics, promotes hatred or is used to harass or threaten another person.

Context matters in art. Documentary, historical, political, journalistic or artistic context may be considered when FRAMED reviews content, but context does not make otherwise unlawful material permissible.

9. Copyright complaints

If you believe a listing or other FRAMED content infringes your copyright, contact support@framedoriginalart.com. Include your name and contact details, identification of the protected work, the FRAMED URL or listing complained of, an explanation of the alleged infringement and enough information for FRAMED to locate the material.

For United States copyright complaints, a rights holder may also provide a notice containing the elements required by applicable U.S. copyright law. FRAMED may request additional information before acting on a notice that is incomplete.

FRAMED may remove or disable access to material while a credible complaint is reviewed. Where appropriate, FRAMED may pass the complaint to the seller or uploader so they can respond.

10. Repeat infringers and account action

FRAMED may restrict or terminate accounts of sellers or users who repeatedly infringe intellectual property rights or repeatedly upload material they do not have the right to use.

A single serious infringement, counterfeit listing, fraud issue or forged authenticity claim may also justify immediate removal or suspension.

11. Reporting other listing concerns

If you believe a listing breaks these rules for a reason other than copyright, contact support@framedoriginalart.com and include the listing link and enough information for FRAMED to understand the concern.

12. What FRAMED can do

FRAMED may ask for evidence of ownership, licence, provenance, identity or authority; pause a listing while a concern is reviewed; remove content; cancel a sale where legally and operationally possible; restrict seller tools; or suspend an account where reasonably necessary.

FRAMED's review of a listing does not transfer the seller's responsibility for legality, authenticity, intellectual property or accuracy to FRAMED.

13. International and United States sales

Sellers must consider the laws of every country and U.S. state in which they choose to offer an item. A work that can lawfully be sold in one place may be restricted in another because of intellectual-property, cultural-property, sanctions, wildlife-material, obscenity or other laws.

FRAMED may restrict a listing or destination where it reasonably believes a legal or rights risk exists.
